Cape Town offers a great variety of coworking spaces. Therefore we have made a list of the best coworking spaces for digital nomads in Cape Town. Just to make your life a little more easier. One of these coworking spaces is Cape Town Office and to give you an insight of how a day of coworking at Cape Town Office looks like, here is the full blog with all the information.

Located in the Eastern part of the city center, sandwiched between the City Bowl area and the Zonnebloem district lies the Cape Town Office. The vibrant streets around the venue are safe to walk through and are filled with coffeeshops and convenient stores.  A short Uber drive from Gardens took me to the office at 62 Roeland street. There is no sign on the outside, but still very easy to find.

After being welcomed and sent to the third floor by the entrance guard, the doorbell next to the white gate of Cape Town Office was the final step to get me inside. An extremely warm welcome and introduction was awaiting me. A complimentary detailed tour made me comfortable with the place and gave me a full overview of all the areas. After this nice introduction, I was assigned a desk.

Desks at Cape Town Office

Cape Town Office has many windows. Where there is windows, there is views. Many desks, including mine, have a gorgeous full Table Mountain view, which does make it easy to drift off every now and then. A huge plus! All the desks have plenty of space for your work stuff and every seat comes with power plugs and network cables. The desks are mostly arranged to sit at with two people next to each other and each desk is divided by (stone) walls, so you can stay focused without eyeballing the coworker opposite of you. The office chairs are simple but comfortable and can be adjusted in height. And of course the WiFi is outstanding to get all your work done. Whenever Cape Town has to deal with loadshedding, the generators will keep you safe and connected at CTO.

Other rooms

Next to these desks, the office also offers several meeting rooms, that can be reserved per 30 minutes. This lighting is adjustable to fit with the mood and there are big TV screens that can be used. For the ones that need to make a private phone call, the designated sound proof phone boots can be used. Are you making a podcast? There is a special room dedicated to this, with all the gadgets available for a decent podcast session.

Cape Town Office vibes

What immediately stands out in this shared office is the light interior design and bright natural daylight that shines through the big windows. In overall the extremely homely atmosphere can be noticed, but which is structured and managed well. The vibe is very friendly, informal and likeminded, and the coworkers in the building are all minding their own business. However, there is always space for a little talk of course! It is a space where people feel comfortable straight away and be assured of a good day of working. Throughout the day a nice playlist is put on softly through the speakers with music that is just recognizable enough to wiggle along with every now and then.

Cape Town Office services

At Cape Town Office, coffee and tea facilities are included, as well as cold filtered water. The rest you can bring yourself and store in one of the fridges or the cupboards in the communal kitchen. A great way to save some money! There are microwaves available and there is a dishwasher. Don’t feel like making lunch? Next door you will find a really nice coffee shop with sandwiches and other treats and around the corner is Harrington Street, which holds multiple cure little coffee bars.

For those in need of a refreshment before a gig or a meeting, or if you just had a sweaty bike ride to the office, there are showers available. For those that come by bicycle, there is a bike stall in the office to keep it safe and sound.

Next to this there are books available to loan and to unwind you can play one of the games at the old school arcade machine! After work, you can make use of the honesty bar that is filled with nice cold beers for retail prices to finish up your work day in the smoothest way.

Cape Town Office hosts some events every now and then. From informative CTO masterclasses to the cool stories of Fuckupnights, about, well.. simply f*ck ups when starting a business. The community is also not afraid of a little party every now and then and once a month you can join in for a family lunch or a coffee morning.

Memberships

At Cape Town Office you get offered different monthly memberships. You can either choose between 50 or 100 hours per month at any available flex-desk. A very good option for those that don’t have fixed working hours. You can choose when you want to fill in these hours. The venue is open 24/7 so there is plenty of options! There is also the option of a dedicated desk, which will be your desk for the whole month with unlimited access. Private offices are also available for monthly rates. They don’t offer day passes, because they want to keep the community strong as it is.

Once you’re a member of the Cape Town Office, you get to enjoy all the perks of being part of the community, and you will be signed into the Slack database; a 300 digital nomad counting networking platform. ‘Once a member, always a member’ (Lizelle, Founder CTO).
