Zebra Crossing is a digital nomad hostel for those with a slightly lower budget, but have high standards at the same time. Zebra Crossing may not look as a very exclusive hostel at first sight, but it definitely has all the facilities that live up to digital nomad standards. Its friendly atmosphere and homely areas make it a really cool place to stay at, and don´t be surprised if you end up staying a bit longer than intended.
Location:
Zebra Crossing is located in the area of Tamboerskloof, just off the area of Gardens. A very safe and central place to be. Within one minute walking you find yourself in one of the most popular and vibrant streets: Kloof Street. Numerous bars, restaurants, clubs and coworking spaces can be found here. It is very close to the walking trails of Table Mountain and Lions Head and a 10 minute drive brings you to the beaches of Cape Town. The hostel offers a shuttle service to and from the airport. Coming by car? There is an on-site little secured parking. Or you can park in any of the roads between Zebra Crossing and Kloof Street.
Way To Nomad proof?
Even though Zebra Crossing is a simple little hostel, it has everything that digital nomads need to get work done and feel at home at the same time. There is outstanding WiFi throughout the building and many places to work from. The beds are comfortable, the (shared) bathrooms are clean and the kitchen is very well equipped. It’s a place that makes you fall in love with a little.
Why it stands out?
The cozy inner courtyard is definitely a unique selling point with a braai area and beautiful trees that also provide shelter in hot summer days. The whole setup of the hostel feels homely and most importantly, you won’t get lost here! Its location is one of the best in town and the atmosphere and likeminded vibes is to write home for. Oh yeah and did I mention the awesome WiFi connection already?
Type of rooms
Zebra Crossing offers 6 type of rooms, ranging from 8-bed dorms to double and single rooms. The private rooms are all basic and come with a little desk. The privates don’t have ensuite bathrooms. But the venue has so many shared bathrooms that it’s almost like you have your own bathroom.
Tips
Zebra Crossing is located on a street with a busstop that has a direct connection to the Table Mountain Cableway and the famous beaches of Cape Town. The opposite direction will take you towards the famous V&A Waterfront for a day of shopping.
A few minutes walking from the hostel you will find Bree street, another one of Cape Towns favorite and bustling streets to hang out for a drink. And don’t forget to go there for First Thursdays!
The blackboard in the common area provides you with all the events that are happening that week. Or if you want to organise something yourself, find some chalk and go nuts!
